Course Description
Mayo Clinic Online Cardiovascular Review Course for Cardiology Boards and Recertification provides the internist and cardiologist with an overview of all aspects of cardiovascular medicine. Well-known experts in each field will give in-depth didactic presentations on state-of-the-art subjects in cardiovascular medicine. This review course is designed specifically to prepare the cardiovascular specialist for the cardiovascular boards and/or recertification. This course will also provide the internist or practicing cardiologist with an update on the latest knowledge and advances in cardiovascular medicine.  The Echo Focus Session is part of the enduring program as well.

The Cardiovascular Online Board Review course is delivered through an online personalized learning gateway enabling learners to take a pre-assessment to identify areas of strength and weakness and then directing their learning with a personalized study guide that concentrates solely on areas where they need reinforcement. Learners can view videos from the live/livestream course, listen to streaming audio presentations, review learning objectives, journal citations, articles and guidelines and board pearls, take notes on PowerPoint presentations, take pre- and post-assessments, practice coding exams, and more.

Course Learning Objectives
Upon conclusion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Describe the etiology of restrictive cardiomyopathies to diagnose and manage patients effectively
  • Recognize and diagnose venous thromboembolism (VTE) using the appropriate algorithm for VTE diagnosis based on a pretest probability of disease assessment strategy
  • Identify cardiovascular disease risk factors in patients without known CAD
  • Identify the classification of antiarrhythmic agents based on mechanisms of action
  • Explain the physiologic changes that occur with pregnancy

Attendance at this Mayo Clinic course does not indicate or guarantee competence or proficiency in the performance of any procedures that may be discussed or taught in this course.

Target Audience
This enduring program is designed for, but not limited to, cardiologists, cardiovascular fellows, and general internists. Although this program is designed specifically to prepare the cardiovascular specialist for the cardiovascular boards and/or recertification, it will also provide the practicing cardiologist or internist with an update on the latest knowledge and advances in cardiovascular medicine.
